BOTOX® Injections

Botox is a brand name for a type of botulinum toxin, a purified protein produced by the bacteria Clostridium botulinum. It is used in cosmetic medicine to temporarily paralyze muscles and reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines on the face.

Botox is administered via injection. The procedure is generally quick and relatively painless, with most patients reporting only a slight discomfort or pinch at the injection site.

Botox works by blocking the release of a chemical called acetylcholine, which is responsible for transmitting signals between nerve cells and muscles. By preventing these signals from being transmitted, Botox causes the muscles to relax and reduces the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

Botox is most commonly used to treat frown lines between eyes and lines around the eyes (crow's feet). The effects of Botox typically last between three and six months, after which the procedure may need to be repeated to maintain the results.

A "lip flip" using Botox is a cosmetic procedure that involves injecting botulinum toxin into the muscles around the mouth. This treatment is designed to create a subtle enhancement in the appearance of the upper lip. Unlike traditional lip fillers that add volume to the lips, a lip flip with Botox relaxes the muscles around the mouth, allowing the upper lip to evert slightly.

It's important to note that a lip flip using Botox is different from traditional lip filler treatments, which involve injecting hyaluronic acid or other substances to add volume and shape to the lips. The choice between a lip flip and lip fillers depends on the individual's aesthetic goals and the desired outcome.
